New Order
Our Roadmap
First Epoch DAO configuration - implemented soon after launch
To ensure a safe and stable launch we will need to take a step-by-step approach. As we continue progressing on development, and as the protocol becomes more stable and robust we will be increasing decentralization of the DAO. The progress will come through several epochs of introduced architecture, increasing decentralization with each update.

First Epoch

With the first iteration of the protocol we have to maintain the most conservative approach regarding available cross chain bridging technology, as we know that operating on Ethereum mainnet creates a prohibitive cost to most users. In response to that, we will be rolling out governance capabilities across multiple chains as advertised in our mission. Those chains would be all the chains that the governance token is wrapped to, which are, but are not limited to: Binance Smart Chain, Polygon and others.
In our first update, we will be spreading our focus on three architectures: The Ethereum blockchain, other Layer-1 or Layer-2 chain, and the usual IPFS and Web2.0 architecture.
At this stage token holders would be able to use the voting mechanism present of the Ethereum network and other blockchains that the token is bridged to, allowing and encouraging voting participation. Our DAO is fully dependent of the outcome of the voting casted in the voting mechanism, which allows decisions around incubation opportunities, treasury strategies and DAO operations to be managed by token holders. The votes casted on the different networks will be aggregated using a multichain vote aggregation module, compiling all the votes together. Though, at this early development stage decisions over the Treasury functions will be controlled by a community driven Gnosis Safe Multisig (5 of 9) to ensure safety and efficiency of the early stage protocol. Such functions include deployment of tokens for yield strategies and management of incubation opportunities. These measures are taken to ensure safety of an early stage protocol, protecting its users from malicious actors.
To further expand on the multisig, it will fully mirror the community driven decisions, only protecting from existentially malicious attacks. It is relatively easy to take control of projects in their infancy, and the multisig will work as a safety wall to prevent that. As the project matures, the multisig will be lifted, fully decentralizing the protocol. Further, the multisig will exist on other blockchains, operating as an oracle signaling the community voting, which will translate into DAO actions including decisions of liquidity pools, yield aggregators and DeFi smart contracts.
The governance token will be initially generated as an ERC-20 token native to the Ethereum ecosystem, though will also be bridged to other networks. The bridge will allow the token to be wrapped/unwrapped on other chains allowing for liquidity mining reward distribution in a chain agnostic manner.
To facilitate an on-chain forum and voting Aragon will be leveraged. The platform allows for New Order governance token holders to participate in forum discussions and vote on-chain. Voting will be available right as we launch, while the forum will be available a few weeks after.
In order to serve User Interface elements and rich documents off-chain we will be leveraging IPFS. The documents would further include long-form DAO proposals, also including long forum posts containing multimedia elements.

Second Epoch

Second Epoch Architecture - gradual decentralisation reducing the role of Multisig to Veto power.
In the second Epoch, the voted upon actions aggregated through the multi-chain voting aggregator concerning areas including the treasury, control over liquidity pools, yield aggregators and incubated projects are passed on to SafeSnap and Kleros being the dispute resolution ecosystem. Though, to continue safeguarding the still early stage protocol, the multisig will remain, being a last safety mechanism against harmful actions towards the DAO.

Third Epoch

Third Epoch - multisig is removed entirely.
Further moving towards complete decentralization, all DAO operations will be moved to Kleros and SafeSnap. These would include the core code upgrades and control over minting the native governance token. At this stage the protocol has sufficiently matured providing reasonable assurance over self maintenance, and the multisig will be dropped. In this epoch, the capabilities of the Inter-blockchain bridge now include arbitrary message passing, allowing one Gnosis safe to pass through or forward actions to other Layer-1 or Layer-2 blockchains.
